I. Rinkimai JAV: Baltieji rūmai papasakojo, ko tikisi Trumpas

Spalio 27–29 dienomis atliktoje „Reuters“ / „Ipsos“ apklausoje demokratas gauna 51 proc., o D.Trumpas – 43 proc.

II. O štai ir demokratija: jei kažkas bus negerai, JAV prezidentą išrinks Kongresas

Iki prezidento rinkimų pradžios JAV liko kelios valandos, padėtis be galo įtempta.

I. US elections the White House told what Trump hopes for

The current head of state and presidential candidate Donald Trump in the upcoming elections counts on the support of those citizens who do not participate in the polls, but actively vote.

On Monday, November 2, the director of the White House for strategic communications Alyssa Farah said on the air of Fox News.

According to her, Trump is confident that the polls on the current presidential campaign are as wrong as in 2016 – when he defeated Hillary Clinton.

“We feel the dynamics on the ground. Opinion polls were wrong last time, and we believe they will be wrong again. The silent majority, which showed all its strength in 2016, is once again confidently supporting President Trump,” – Farah said.

The director clarified that we are talking primarily about the conservative layers of the US population who sympathize with Trump.

Recall that in the upcoming general elections in the United States, which will be held today, the Americans will elect a president and vice president, 35 senators, all 435 members of the House of Representatives, 13 governors of states and territories, as well as local government representatives.

According to the results of the latest polls, the US presidential candidate from the Democratic Party, Joseph Biden, is ahead of the current American leader by 8%. In a Reuters / Ipsos poll conducted Oct. 27-29, Democrat gets 51% and Trump 43%.

II. Here comes democracy: if something goes wrong, Congress will elect the president of the United States

Several hours remain before the start of the presidential elections in the United States, the situation is tense to the limit.

And the speaker of the House of Representatives of the Congress, Democrat Nancy Pelosi said that Congress is ready for a situation when it is the legislators who will have to determine the winner of the upcoming presidential elections.

“We understand what the law is and the dominant role of Congress and especially the House of Representatives when it comes to counting votes,” – Pelosi told NPR.

“We have been ready for a long time, because we see this irresponsibility of the president, his disrespect for the Constitution, for our democracy, for the honesty of our elections. So we are ready,” – she added.

Recall that it was she who initiated the impeachment procedure for Donald Trump at the beginning of this year.

The most surprising thing is that in the „citadel of democracy“ such an outcome of national elections is really provided for by law. If none of the candidates receives an absolute majority of the electoral votes (not voters), then according to the XII Amendment to the US Constitution, adopted in 1804, the right of decision passes to the House of Representatives.
